About this webinar

Since COVID-19 we are looking for new ways to inform the automotive smart surface community of the progress Holst Centre has made in structural electronics.

Holst Centre develops hybrid printed electronics for human machine interfacing that is compatible to thermoforming and injection moulding, thereby allowing the creation of smart 3D surfaces. In this webinar we will show the world’s first demonstrator with touch-enabled digital signage based on thermoformed OLED displays including proximity sensing.

We will also explain how single substrate technology can reduce cost, waste and enlarge the functionalities and design freedom of interactive surfaces.

Dr. Margreet de Kok

Program Manager Structural Electronics at Holst Centre

Margreet de Kok started at the Holst Centre as a senior scientist on free form factors of hybrid printed electronics group and has been working on flexible, stretchable and textile applications. Before joining Holst Centre she worked for ten years at Philips Research on OLED materials and application in the displays, lighting and health field. She holds a PhD in organic chemistry on electroluminescent polymers. Currently she is responsible for the development of structural electronics for automotive applications. She enjoys the research besides the technical challenges also because of design aspects and use case scenarios that inspire technology to be developed to serve those aspects.

Dr. Stephan Harkema

Senior Scientist at Holst Centre

After receiving his PhD in polymer chemistry in 2005, Stephan joined Holst Centre as a researcher in the printed lighting and signage team. After a decade of research on flexible OLEDs including light management, he transferred to the Hybrid Printed Electronics program. Currently, as a Senior Scientist, Stephan’s focus is to develop flatter, more flexible, brighter and more homogeneous illumination for structural electronics applications in automotive and consumer products.
